It looks like the Escambia County Commission is getting an award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for going along with their idea for protecting the Perdido Key Beach Mouse while still allowing for condo development to take place in the county.
The county commission was evidently never really all that happy with the idea, and they're not exactly thrilled with the award.
It's interesting that we're getting an award for something they (Fish & Wildlife) held a gun to our head about. - County Commission Chairman Mike Whitehead
Let's hope there's a nice, big, framed declaration of the award and just the perfect spot on Mike's office wall for it.
