Condo / Hotel to Replace Clarion Resort

In a follow up to an earlier story about the demolition of the Clarion Resort, the 60 or so owners of the Clarion Resort have decided to sell the property for redevelopment.

Key to their decision was an approval by the Escambia County Board of Adjustments to rezone the property. The approval will allow construction of 50 units per acre at this Pensacola Beach location, paving the way for a new 20-story Pensacola Beach condo / hotel.

Not that we'd recommend you do this, but if you wanted to you could actually buy a Destin vacation condo in an auction. Not only that but don't even have to be in Destin to do it.

I think I'll file this one under things to consider doing when I have more money than I know what to do with.

Beach Mouse says "Thanks" to Perdido Key Condo Developers

It looks like the Escambia County Commission is getting an award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for going along with their idea for protecting the Perdido Key Beach Mouse while still allowing for condo development to take place in the county.

The county commission was evidently never really all that happy with the idea, and they're not exactly thrilled with the award.

Let's hope there's a nice, big, framed declaration of the award and just the perfect spot on Mike's office wall for it.
