Lighthouse Condominium to Open in Time for the 2006 Vacation Season

Despite setbacks during construction over the last two years, the Lighthouse Condominium development on the water front in Gulf Shores will open in time for the 2006 vacation season.

The Lighthouse Condominium project is being built on the parcel of land previously occupied by a the Lighthouse Resort Motel, a 60's era hotel constructed to look like a lighthouse. The development is comprised of 251 units in all, and is 18 stories tall. While primarily made up of two and three bedroom units, there are a limited number of four-bedroom penthouses. The first floor features, a fitness room/sauna and a heated indoor pool. Management will be on-site, and there are six high-speed elevators from the lobby entrance.

A three-story parking garage lies adjacent to the north. The south side, facing the sugar-white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, features a pair of outdoor zero-entry pools - the pool bottom rises to deck level at one end, allowing vacationers to walk into the pool.

The $43.4 million project sold out to vacation rental property investors and vacation home owners within hours of going on the market in 2003.
