Sunshine State's abundant charms convert skeptic
Florida is a fantastic vacation destination. From Amelia Island to Key West, Pensacola to the Everglades, few states can claim the kind of sun and surf, history and hospitality offered by the Sunshine State.
But until about three years ago, I had never set foot in the state.
And I had no desire to. After all, I knew that Florida was crowded, crass, humid and infested with bugs and cartoon mice.
I was right, but I didn't know that Florida also can be quiet, sophisticated, comfortable and full of interesting wildlife.
